Our local Science Learning Partnership

We offer a range of options including whole day and half day sessions, as well as all staff science training as a twilight or part of an inset day.

One of the most popular options is for Naomi Hiscock to work with science lead(s) and SLT in the afternoon (during lesson time) and deliver a whole staff inset after lessons end.

Please contact hhammond@alexanadrapark.school for more information.

Current opportunities

 London conferences

Attached below you will find flyers for the 3 London wide conferences.

These full days offer a real range of workshops and networking opportunities so should provide great CPD opportunities for all schools, they do have a cost

Simple booking links for these are here;

Primary conference - https://tinyurl.com/5bnkp4x5

Secondary conference - bit.ly/LSSC2022

Technician conference - https://tinyurl.com/73sk8chf

For the secondary conference we have two offers to support schools & local authorities/education partnerships

  • When a school books a paid place they can book a second member of staff on for free (once the first staff is booked on email JVallely@newsteadwood.co.uk for a code, use this to book second member of staff)
  • If 4 schools in a partnership (EP/LA) sign up we can offer a fully funded place to a 5th school. Email back to me with the names of the 4 schools who have booked on and the name of the school you wish to have a fully funded place.

Fully funded Physics & stem club programs

These are fully funded programs, hence are for a more specific audience

SKPT – subject knowledge for physics teachers – see flyer + http://www.ogdentrust.com/skpt/ -

This program is to support teachers who are, or will be, teaching physics outside their own specialism. It is most suitable for post ECT but ECTs are welcome. It is a blended course with a mix of facilitated and self-paced learning involves a reasonable time commitment (20 hours per module) but provides depth and a well-crafted route to better physics pedagogical content knowledge as well as subject knowledge enhancement. The face to face days are bursary funded so there really is no cost to a school.

It is an ongoing program with new modules each term. This terms module term is Forces, the first London face to face day for this program is 15th June. See above link for detail and to book.

STEM clubs – see attached flyer, fully funded workshops around STEM clubs. If you want a face to face one of these for your schools please contact Ruhena (email on flyer) or ask hhammond@alexanadrapark.school to make the connection.

Teachometer – Physics at secondary. Are you a school who has a one to one device policy AND who are willing to try a new way of working with at least one class for at least a term? Physics lead at Tiffin school has built a platform called teachometer, this has significantly reduced planning and marking workload for Tiffin physics teachers. He has a grant to share this work with others, including full explanation, training and set up support. Please contact hhammond@alexanadrapark.school for more information
